The primary responsibility of the Burt County Road Department is county road and bridge
maintenance including signing, snow removal, culvert repair and replacement, ect. Burt
County has approximately 760.56 miles of rural public roads. Of the 760.56 miles, 80.15
miles are unsurfaced, 615.86 miles are gravel, and 64.55 miles are hard-surfaced roads,
being asphalt or concrete.
There are over 147 bridges located in Burt County, which are inspected on a bi-annual basis.
Most of the bridges are replaced as needed by contracting them to qualified construction
companies. Most repair work on the bridges is done by the Burt County Road Department.
